We understand completely the worry and guilt over leaving your furry loved ones alone when you go on holiday. We try to reduce that concern for you by providing your cats with an in-home service where they will receive VIP care and dedicated attention in an environment where they feel safe and comfortable.

We particularly enjoy it when our hard work with shy and nervous cats pays off and they start to form a bond with us. It really makes our day!

Cat's Whiskers smart car, the Catmobile!We only cover North and East London and always have a minimum of two sitters covering your area. We prefer to have more sitters in a smaller area than cover a large area with lots of sitters, so that there are never any availability issues with covering last minute holidays or business trips.

We are very well known locally and are recommended by vets in North and East London with whom we have had a relationship with for years. We are also happy to provide any advice or help that we can, particularly for first time pet owners as we have many, many years of cat care experience between us!

A personal relationship

We guarantee you will always deal with a person, not a website, when you choose to book with Cat’s Whiskers. All booking requests are individually responded to by either Laura (the owner) or our office manager.

Laura Stafford, Cat's WhiskersLaura (left) is hands-on with the day-to-day running of the business and personally recruits every new member of staff and gives the onboarding training. She meets all new clients to fully understand your cats’ care requirements and also does visits so give her a wave if you see her zipping about in our branded smart car - aka the Catmobile!

Testament to our service is that many of our clients have been with us for over 10 years - some of whom have even joined the team because they liked us so much.

Cat's Whiskers cat sitting team Our sitters are all trustworthy, reliable cat lovers who will always go the extra mile to ensure your cat gets the best possible care while you are away. All of the team have either owned cats or have done cat sitting previously. Our interview process is 3 stages and subsequent training lasts a minimum of two weeks so you can be sure that the entire team are experts in looking after your furry family.

We are covered by Pet Business Insurance which includes cover for Public/Products liability, Care Custody and Control as well as Non-negligence.

Our sitters are fully insured and have a clean security vetting (DBS checked) so that you know your home and kitties are in the very safest of hands.

Type of Client Data held

The type of Personal Data held by Cat’s Whiskers for clients consists of:
Contact details (Name, Email address, Phone number, Address); Access information e.g. security/alarm codes; Information required for the care of your cats e.g. food, litter, medication, vet contact details

Why is the Client Data held?

Cat’s Whiskers only holds clients’ personal data, as above, for contractual purposes to allow Cat’s Whiskers to supply the services booked by their clients.

Who has access to the Data held?

Laura Stafford (as the owner of Cat’s Whiskers) is the Data Controller and has overall control of all data provided by the client and handled by Cat’s Whiskers.  In addition to the Data Controller, the Office Manager and sitters have access to necessary client data in order to run their aspect of the Cat’s Whiskers business.

How Data is handled by Cat’s Whiskers?

Information provided by clients in person or by email/telephone to the office is used to create a Client File which is stored in a cloud-based software.  The details collected are as outlined above.

Email addresses are used solely for service-based communications which may include (but are not limited to) reminders, booking cut-off dates, price increases and essential information about Cat’s Whiskers which relate to the contractual arrangement in place. 

Where clients have consented and chosen to follow us on social media platforms, a photo of the cat is taken during the visit and shared accordingly.

How data is secured

Client Files are stored in cloud-based software which is password protected. The Owner, Office Manager and sitters have access to this information via Mac/PC and mobile phones which are also password protected.

Third Parties

Prior to Cat’s Whiskers providing any of its clients’ personal data to a third party, Cat’s Whiskers confirms that it has undertaken necessary steps to ensure that the third party is GDPR compliant.

How long is the data held?

Client Files are accessible by the Owner, Office Manager and sitters if they have made a booking in the previous 2 years. For any client who has not booked within this timeframe, their details will be archived for up to 6 years in a password protected cloud-based environment. Any unnecessary client data which is over 6 years old and currently held by us will be deleted by Friday 25th May 2018.

Data Access Request

Clients of Cat’s Whiskers can ask to see what data is held about them.  They can also ask that their data be removed and/or changes made.  Cat’s Whiskers confirms that they will respond to any Data Access Request within the required timeframe.


We use analytics to track how visitors use this website and so improve their experience; all user data here is anonymous.
